Welcome to Seagulls Programmes

Welcome to my website, 17 years in the making and still evolving! The football programme has been around almost as long as the game itself. The primitive match cards issued for games in the 19th century are a far cry from the 100-page publications of today, yet they serve the same purpose. A mazy dribble from an opposing player will prompt a flick through the programme to find out who he is. In Victorian times the same process took place, although the players back then were distinguished perhaps by the colour of their ‘knickers’ or the type of hat they wore.

This website celebrates the Brighton & Hove Albion programme. You can track its evolution from 1906 to the present day, and there are also examples of match cards from other clubs in the Brighton area that existed before the formation of the Albion in 1901.

I hope you enjoy looking through my labour of love. If you have any comments, queries or questions, please let me know.

a comprehensive archive of Albion programmes, fanzines and other memorabilia.

The vast majority of scans on the site are from my collection, and covers the period from 1945/46 to date. For many of the gaps , The Brighton & Hove Albion Heritage Society have been really supportive, especially Tim Carder and Peter Irvine. I'm also really grateful to Paul Camillin and the Media team at The Albion, who have been fantastic throughout the project.
