chequered border
Major improvements to the programme format for 1928/29. The page count was increased from eight to twelve, with full-page advertising preferred to smaller adverts. The full-page ‘Albion Budget’ editorial first appeared.
The price remained at 2d and the cover was changed part way through the season.
For the Fulham programme on 10th November 1928, a chequered border appeared. The Fryco advert on the front cover remained. Bradshaws for Bicycles returned, taking a full-page adjacent to the ‘Albion Budget’ on page three.
The editorial commented on the defeat at Plymouth Argyle: “They won because (a) they are above the average in ability and were at home; (b) because they were awarded a goal to which attached a grave suspicion of offside; (c) because we were disallowed a palpable foul when Moses Russell brought Tommy Cook down in the penalty area and (d) because our inside forwards, after playing a good game, all missed seasy chances in the last ten minutes of play”.
