cover change
By April 1929 the chequered border had gone, replaced by a predominantly blue design. Internal pages and content remained essentially the same as earlier in the season.
Programmes for 1928/29 were printed at the Sussex Daily News Offices, 130 North Street, Brighton.
Spectators were entertained by the band of the Royal Engineers at the match against Newport County on 27th April 1929. The ‘Albion Budget’ opens the editorial with: “Today is Cup Final day. You all know that. And the Cup Final, like the cuckoo, is the harbinger of Spring and the herald of the closing of yet another football season. Just one more week and King Willow once again comes into his realm”.
Apparently content with this design, the programme remained almost identical to this design. The only difference being the ‘Bradshaws for Bicycles’ advert on the inside cover was replaced by Hewett Brothers.
Another change was that cartoons signed ‘Stanley Lloyd’ started to appear from October 1929.
