1924/25 - a moderate season
Programme-wise, it was very much the same again for the 1924/25 season. There were two changes to the adverts on the front page. ‘Bradshaws for Bicycles’ and the ‘Royal George Hotel’ replaced Fred Larkin and Toya’s.
Towards the end of a mediocre season, ‘Albino’ wrote in the Reading programme: “The Lambs (reserves) did not do nearly as well as expected. In fact, considering the strength of the side they gave quite a feeble display, some of the form being shown being very bad”.
Also mentioned were proposals for the offside law and throw-ins: “….spectators will certainly see more football, and it does appear that the change is bound to do good. After all, people pay to see a football match and not a succession of free kicks”.
