into the football league
The Football League was expanded to three divisions in 1920. The new Third Division consisted of the majority of the Southern League teams plus Grimsby who were relegated from the Second Division. The Albion programme for 1920-21 was essentially the same as the previous season. However, the advert for The Eclipse had been replaced by one from G.A. Wiles, Photographer from Prestonville Road. His advert reads ‘Official Photographs of the Crowds, Team and Players, are taken and published on Postcards at 3d each’. These postcards are still very much collectable today. The programme for the match against Southampton in February 1921 was printed on pink paper with the South-Eastern League table shown in place of any editorial notes, but a month later the programme for the match against Newport County was on white paper, whilst the editorial notes were penned by ‘Nemo’ which included a nice cameo photo of Jack Woodhouse.
